Theme 1: Doping is contrary to the Spirit of Sport

In this Session, the 11 values of sport, as described by the Olympic movement and adopted by WADA are presented. During a structured exercise, a personal reflection of these values is encouraged in order to comprehend the personal meaning that is attributed in each one of them. Having those values and the personal meaning attributed to them, a second exercise addresses key questions such as i) which of them are the most important for one self, ii) how do these values influence one’s behavior, iii) how do these values influence sporting motivation. Relating the sporting values with doping behaviors, this Session aims at enhancing doping awareness literacy and increase awareness about the sporting values, as well as the wider implications that doping may have in the fundamental ethical principles that govern sport ethos.
