Theme 3: Need for doping control in sport

What if it was permitted to compete in Tour de France using a motorcycle? This Session begins with this simple question to highlight the need for rules and regulations in sports, in order to safeguard a fair competition. In this respect, this Session focuses on doping and how anti-doping rules and regulation are needed to ensure that athletes are competing fairly. In addition, it discusses how imposing those rules safeguard the health of those athletes that are willing to use doping substances despite knowing their potential harmful consequences. The official bodies regulating sports are presented, initiating a discussion about their legitimacy and trustworthiness. This Session aims at enhancing doping awareness literacy and increase awareness about the doping-related sporting rules, promoting a critical approach on a much debated topic in modern sports.
